The trend report, for subscribers

Colors, materials, silhouettes: your forecast for the season, in a reserved section

Ahead of each fashion week season, publish your forecast in a section of its own: the colors to watch, the fabrics, the silhouettes, illustrated with your photos and moodboards. Lock it for subscribers and leave the opening readable by all, cut off at the paragraph you pick. On release day, an automatic push spreads the word; whoever subscribes for this report also unlocks every past season.

Your issues in sections, open or locked article by article

Runway reviews, street style, interviews: you choose what stays open

Lay the magazine out as you would in print: runway reviews, street style, beauty, interviews, shopping. Each article is either open or locked, and a badge in the magazine's colors flags the locked ones. Subscriptions open once ten pieces are locked; paying readers then have the whole title, on the phone and in the browser version.

Two revenues: advertising and subscriptions

Non-paying readers get the ads, paying readers a clean page

Fashion lives on advertising: sell your own campaigns through the internal ad server, or fill the slots with Google AdMob. One switch hides the ads from subscribers, which gives readers one more reason to pay. Subscription revenue carries no GoodBarber fee; the store's cut, 15% for most publishers, is the only deduction.

The independent fashion magazine

Quarterly in print, weekly in the app: features are locked, the news stays open and carries the ads.

The trend forecasting newsletter

Its seasonal reports become a locked section; the push replaces the email, and past seasons come with the subscription.

The fashion week media

When the show calendar matters more than articles, turn to the fashion events app: program, venues, press area.

Three fashion titles, three ways to use the app

Your title next? Publish a first issue during the free month; no card is asked.

Your website feeds the app, your exclusives are written in it

Import your site's articles, and write the locked ones in the CMS

Your site's RSS feed can fill a news section by itself, with nothing to retype; imported articles remain open. The features you sell are written in the CMS by several contributors, each with their own rights, and scheduled on Friday for Monday morning.

An app, a website with a paywall, or a digital newsstand?

Fashion magazine app: questions and answers

Can I sell the trend report as a separate subscription?

Not separately: the app has a single level of access. The trends section is part of the subscription, like every other locked article; the choice you do have is between a monthly and a yearly length.

Can articles from my website be reserved for subscribers?

Only those written in the GoodBarber CMS. Articles imported through your site's RSS feed stay open: use them for the news, and write your features in the app.

Are my print subscribers recognized in the app?

Not automatically, because the app's subscription is sold by Apple and Google. From the back office, you can add a free subscription for any reader manually, for the period you set.

Can I keep advertising for readers who don't pay?

Yes. Ads from your internal ad server, AdMob or Ad Manager stay visible to non-subscribers, and one option hides them from subscribers.

What is deducted from each subscription?

The App Store or Google Play fee, 15% for most publishers, and up to 30% at Apple in a subscriber's first year outside its small business program. GoodBarber deducts nothing.

Which plan for a fashion magazine app?

Premium plus Memberships, or Pro, where it is included. Selling also requires the web version switched on with a domain name of your own.
