Android - Publish a new Android app with memberships in Google Play (Solo process)

This tutorial explains how to publish an Android app that includes subscriptions in Google Play when you are taking care of the publication process of your Android app Solo.
Before following this online help instructions, start by:
- setting memberships  for your app and testing it on the ad hoc version, then come back to this online help.

If the Memberships extension is NOT activated in your app, please refer to this tutorial for instructions on how to publish your Android app in Google Play. 

Note: Only the mandatory information requested to publish your app in Google Play will be mentioned in this online help, not the optional information. 

To begin with:
1. Connect to your Google Play console
2. Select your app.

• App name
• Short description
• Full description

• App icon: your app icon shown on Google Play. This doesn’t replace your app’s launcher icon. Size must be 512 px by 512 px
• Feature graphic: Shown at the top of your store listing. May also be used to promote your app in other places on Google Play. Size must be 1,024 px by 500 px.
• Phone screenshots: Upload between 2 and 8 phone screenshots. Size must be between 320 px and 3,840 px
• 7-inch tablet screenshots: Upload up to 8 7-inch tablet screenshots. Size must be between 320 px and 3,840 px
• 10-inch tablet screenshots: Upload up to 8 10-inch tablet screenshots. Size must be between 320 px and 3,840 px

• When given the choice between App or Game, select "App".
• Select the category that best matches the topic of your app.

1. In the menu Policy > App Content, go to "Privacy policy" 
2. Click "Start"
3. Provide the URL for your privacy policy.
For your app to be compliant with the most recent Google Play guidelines, you must provide a link to the privacy policy of your app.
If you don't already have a privacy policy URL, we provide a template document that you must customize . 

4. Click "Save"
5. Click at the top of the page next to the arrow "App content" to go back to the App Content menu. 

1. In the menu Policy > App Content, go to "Ads" 
2. Click "Start"
3. Select "Yes, my app contains ads" or "No, my app does not contain ads". 
Note: Google may inform you that your app uses ad SDKs even if your app doesn't contain any ads. Ignore this message. Those SDKs are included by default, but as long as you don't show any ads in your app, the answer to this question is still "no".
4. Click "Save"
5. Click at the top of the page next to the arrow "App content" to go back to the App Content menu. 

1. In the menu Policy > App Content, go to "App Access"
2. Click "Start"
3. Select "All functionality is available without special access" if you didn't restrict any part of your app. If any portion of the app is restricted, provide valid credentials so that Google's review team can access the restricted content. 
4. Click "Apply"
5. Click "Save"
6. Click at the top of the page next to the arrow "App content" to go back to the App Content menu. 

1. In the menu Policy > App Content, go to "Content Ratings"
2. Click "Start Questionnaire"
3. Provide a valid email address
4. Select the category of your app
5. Click "Next"
6. Complete the questionnaire and click "Save"
7. Click "Next"
8. Click "Submit"
9. Click at the top of the page next to the arrow "App content" to go back to the App Content menu. 

1. In the menu Policy > App Content, go to "Target audience and content"
2. Click "Start"
3. Select the audience that matches your app content. Unless your app is made for children, we recommend selecting only 13-15 and above.
6. Click "Next".
7. Click "Save".

2. Click "Start".
3. Verify that your app follows Google's requirements to be declared as a "News" app on Google Play: https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9949730  
4. Select "Yes" if your app is a News app, or "No" if it isn't.
5. If you selected "Yes", provide your credentials as a news publisher and explain how you source the news content that is shown in your app. For example, provide a link to the news publisher's website which shows an explicit relationship with your app, or documentation that validates your credentials as a news publisher. 
If you Selected "No", continue to the next step
6. Click "Save".
7. Click at the top of the page next to the arrow "App content" to go back to the App Content menu. 

1. In the menu Policy > App Content, go to "COVID-19 contact tracing and status apps"
2. Click "Start".
3. Select what apply to your app, regarding whether it is a COVID-19 contact tracing or status app.
4. Click "Save".
5. Click at the top of the page next to the arrow "App content" to go back to the App Content menu. 

As of April 2022%2Ctimeline-information , filling Google Play's Data safety section is now mandatory to publish or update your apps.

Please refer to this Online Help to fill in this information correctly.
Not providing the correct information to Google will result in a rejection, so make sure you follow it attentively.

When you select a country as available, any future production releases include that country.

1. Select Release > Production > Countries/regions.
2. Update your app's country selection.
3. Click the blue button "Add countries / regions" at the bottom right.
4. Click "Add" on the popup to confirm.

1. On the left side menu, under "Release", click Testing > Internal Testing
2. Under your .aab file, click Promote Release > Production. You will be redirected to the menu Release > Production.
3. Add your release notes.
6. Click "Save" and then click "Review Release".

Your app will now be reviewed by Google.
It can take 7 days or more to review new apps. 
Check your emails in the mailbox associated with your Google Play account, as Google might contact you regarding the publication of your Android app on their store.
