Interview : Vibe Coding as seen by GoodBarber
Written by Jerome Granados on

In recent weeks, the term "Vibe Coding" has become very popular in the tech world. To understand this phenomenon and find out if it also applies to GoodBarber users, I interviewed Dominique, our CTO.
Jérôme: Dominique, can you quickly explain what Vibe Coding is?
Dominique: It's a new way of coding, where the developer uses an artificial intelligence (AI) to which he gives simple instructions in natural language. The AI then writes and modifies the code directly. This saves an enormous amount of time by automating a lot of repetitive work, or by making it easier to resolve simple errors.

Jérôme: Who do you think Vibe Coding is for? Can everyone benefit from it?
Dominique: Not really. It's a tool for non-developers, but it requires a good technical understanding to use it fully.
Paradoxically, to take full advantage of it, you need to understand the structure of the code, and be able to quickly assess the quality of the AI's proposals. Without programming knowledge, you can quickly find yourself overwhelmed or blocked, as AI can create significant inconsistencies if used without expert human supervision.

Jérôme: How does Vibe Coding fit in with our work at GoodBarber?
Dominique: In essence, vibe coding isn't really aimed at developers, who can express their vision of the software architecture they want to implement in a technical language.
But more generally, generative AIs capable of producing code have become an everyday tool for our technical teams. They considerably increase our productivity by speeding up the completion of certain tasks. This means that our developers can create new features more quickly and continually improve our tools at a higher rate than before.
For our users, on the other hand, Vibe Coding is irrelevant, as GoodBarber already offers them something much more suitable. GoodBarber's great strength is precisely in providing a framework that makes it easy for non-developers to create high-performance, robust, fully-customized applications. Our users don't have to worry about the code, and that's precisely our mission: to totally simplify the creation of mobile and web applications.

Jérôme: Finally, is Vibe Coding to be considered in opposition to no-code tools like GoodBarber?
Dominique: On the contrary, it reinforces the appeal of no-code tools. Vibe Coding is reserved for an expert audience, while GoodBarber democratizes access to the creation of professional applications. Everyone has a role to play, and at GoodBarber we're going to take advantage of this innovation to bring new features to our users even more quickly.
