After several months' work, our team is proud to announce that the GoodBarber engine is now optimized for the latest version of Android!

In this case, "optimized" means that applications built with GoodBarber take full advantage of the new features introduced by this update. You'll see, the impact is very visual!

Edge-to-Edge display

The main new feature for apps optimized for Android 15 is the Edge-to-Edge display. From now on, your apps will be displayed on the entire screen surface, including under the virtual keyboard and system bars:

  • The status bar, also known as the notification bar, which displays information such as battery level and network.

  • The navigation bar, located at the bottom of the screen, whose size varies according to the navigation mode chosen (gestures or buttons).

Thanks to this optimization, your GoodBarber applications become even more immersive! And as good news never comes alone, we've extended this edge-to-edge behavior to Android versions prior to 15. So all your users will benefit from this immersive experience, whatever their mobile device.

Now your content takes up more space on the screen, and our team has adjusted every element of GoodBarber accordingly, taking into account the Mini Player, the banner ad and the style of your header.

A state-of-the-art engine

We've also taken advantage of this update to integrate the latest versions of the external services and SDKs used in your applications for statistics (Meta, Firebase, Countly, Appsflyer), monetization: AdMob, Ad Manager and other services used by the GoodBarber engine.

These updates require new permissions to exploit certain functionalities offered by these third-party services. We have therefore updated the Privacy Center page in your back-office to reflect these changes. You'll be able to activate only the permissions you need, ensuring transparency and trust for your users.

Change in minimum compatibility

With each new version of Android, Google drops support for older versions of the system. From now on, GoodBarber apps are compatible from Android 8.0 onwards, covering 95% of Android devices connected to the Play Store.

⚠️ Android 7 devices will no longer be able to update your apps, but they will continue to function normally.

Android 16 is coming soon!

This year, Google has decided to bring forward the release of Android 16 to the second quarter of 2025. So we'll soon have the opportunity to integrate the new features of this future version into GoodBarber. So your applications will always be at the cutting edge of the latest technological advances!
